Abstract:

Increasing global natural disasters pose a significant risk to the sustainability of cities and public safety. The notion of a resilient city is becoming increasingly significant in terms of reducing the negative effects of disasters and increasing the well-being of citizens. For this reason, it is seen that academic studies in different disciplines focus on increasing the resilience of cities and societies. In this study, a bibliometric analysis of research has been conducted on resilience and resilient cities in the context of disaster management. In this analysis, the distribution of the studies by years, journals, the most frequently used words, the number of citations, and countries are examined. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that there has been a significant increase in academic studies focusing on the concepts of resilience and resilient cities in recent years. In addition, the findings indicate that academic studies focus on the concepts of urban areas, environmental risks, climate change, disaster management, resource management and sustainability. The findings of this study reveal that more studies needs to be done on the design and management of resilient cities. It is expected that this study will guide future studies by presenting an overview of academic studies on resilience and resilient cities in the context of disaster management.
