Statistics indicate that a sizeable number of women are victims of gender violence and that foreign women are the most vulnerable group. Assistance services used by these women usually require the intervention of interpreters who facilitate communications between the many agents and victims. Although an essential requisite for hiring such interpreters should be specialised training, this does not take place in reality due to paucity of specialised training resources and furthermore, no such resources are available in Spain. The aim of this study is to emphasise on the need for providing specialised training to interpreters who work with gender violence victims and furthermore to analyse the training resources available in other countries, with a view to contributing towards the creation of a training proposal in our country.
