A CASE OF 44-YEAR-OLD MALE WITH RECURRENT RHEUMATIC FEVER

Abstract:

Acute rheumatic fever results as a consequence of auto-immune reaction to group A Streptococcus infection and involves multiple organs causing a variety of symptoms. Although most of the manifestations resolve completely in due course of time, valvular heart disease persists producing various cardiac symptoms. The rate of recurrent rheumatic fever declines sharply with age and is relatively uncommon in adulthood. Here we present a case of a 44-year-old male presenting with fever and polyarthralgia.
