Abstract:

Yahya Akengin is a Hisar poet who has witnessed the half-century progress of Turkish poetry from his first poetry book Istesen (1969) to the present day. Born in 1946 in Bayburt, Akengin resided in Erzurum (1959-1967), Sultandağı (1967-1971) and lastly in Ankara (1971). From these geographies, Bayburt and Erzurum were important places that determined the image of nature in his poem. In addition to being familiar with this climate, we see the effects of the desire for childhood and youth. In his poem, if it is necessary, the length of the poem gives the possibility of separation from the length of the present for the poetic essence. The seasons that imitate the time of nature and the elements of nature are in favor of the mirror of the relationship of the poetic essence with life. The sadness of Akengin is also decisive in the poetry of the humorous nature, while the attitude of itidali in the face of the city and modernization is even closer to the nature. Especially when it comes to the poetry of the essence, the nature is filled with a sad atmosphere. Nevertheless, in the poems where national identity and historical emphasis are highlighted, nature is still a romantic. In this work we will show you how the nature is placed in the context of time and length in the poems of Akengin.
