1867 ile 1945 yılları arasında yaşamış olan Kollwitz, kıta avrupasında iki dünya savaşının yaşandığı, insanlığın bir buhranlar paradoksu içinde olduğu bir dönemde hayat sürmüştür. Bu dönemde milyonlarca insanın savaşlar ve salgınlar nedeniyle hayatı sönmüş, milyonlarcası yoksulluk ve sefaletin pençelerine düşmüş, aileler ve toplumlar parçalanmıştır. İçinde bulunduğu toplumun trajedilerini kendi yaşamış olduğu acı ve deneyimlerle birleştiren sanatçı, günümüzde özgünlüğünü koruyan ölümsüz eserler üretmiştir. Bu açıdan Kollwitz, yalnızca kendi dönemini değil sonraki dönemleri de etkileyen bir sanatçı olma özelliğine sahiptir. Kollwitz’in, özellikle dönemin Almanya’sının politik yaklaşımında kadına yönelik yürüttüğü kültürel paradigmalarına karşı bir sanat anlayışı ile yaşadığı dönemin sorunlarını ve yaşadığı acıların sanatına yaptığı etkileri sanatçının 6 resmi üzerinden incelenmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı, Kollwitz’in yaşadığı bu zor dönemde, yaşadığı derin duygusal acıyı eserlerine tutkuyla aktarırken aynı zamanda izleyiciye aynı duygu ve derinliği hissettirmesinde kullandığı teknik ve bakış açısını döküman ve eserlerine dayalı analizlerle irdelemek ve ortaya çıkarmaktır.
Kollwitz, who lived between 1867 and 1945, lived in a period when two world wars were experienced in continental Europe and humanity was in a paradox of crises. During this period, millions of people's lives were extinguished due to wars and epidemics, millions of them fell into the clutches of poverty and misery, families and societies were torn apart. Combining the tragedies of the society he lived in with his own pain and experiences, the artist has produced immortal works that preserve their originality today. In this respect, Kollwitz has the feature of being an artist who influenced not only his own period but also later periods. With an understanding of art against Kollwitz's cultural paradigms towards women, especially in the political approach of the Germany of the period; The problems of the period in which he lived and the effects of the pain he experienced on his art are examined through 6 paintings of the artist. The aim of the study is to passionately convey the deep emotional pain that Kollwitz experienced during this difficult period to his works; At the same time, it is to examine and reveal the technique and point of view used to make the audience feel the same emotion and depth with analyzes based on documents and works.
