Anahtar Kelimeler: Anksiyete COVID-19 Depresyon Pandemi Umutsuzluk ABSTRACT Objective: COVID-19 is a RNA virus from the coronavirus family and was first detected in December 2019. COVID-19 was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization on 30 January 2020. In this study, we aimed to detect psychological changes in emergency department (ED) personnel during the pandemic period. Material and Methods: The study included 120 ED personnels (case group) and 70 volunteers from outside the hospital (control group). The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHI) and Post-traumatic Stress Symptoms Subscale (PSSS) were applied to the participants. In addition, the TEMPS-A temperament scale was applied to the case group. Results: According to socio-demographic data, there was no significant difference between the case group and the control group, except for education levels, between age, gender, employment and marital status. When the groups were compared, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in terms of BDI (p=0.000), BAI (p=0.005), BHI (p=0.021) and PSSS (p=0.000). According to the temperament profile of the case group, 8 people had depressive temperament, 4 people had cyclothymic temperament, 2 people had anxious temperament and there was no individual with hypertimic temperament. Conclusion: We found that ED personnels were affected psychologically in the period of COVID-19. We think that planning mandatory and regular mental follow-up programs for healthcare workers will reduce the negative impact on individuals and increase their job performance Keywords: Anxiety COVID-19 Depression Pandemic Hopelessness
