Toplumsal cinsiyet meselesi, biyolojik bir olgudan ziyade toplumsal olarak inşa edilen bir yapıyı kapsamaktadır. Hemen hemen tüm alanlarda yansımaları görülen bu cinsiyetçi yaklaşım, yazarlar tarafından edebî eserlere yansıtılmakta ve okuyucu üzerinde etkiler bırakabilmektedir. Bu bakımdan edebî bir eser olan hikâyelerde, toplumdaki cinsiyet rollerinin temsillerinin nasıl ele alındığı oldukça önemlidir. Toplumsal cinsiyet kavramını eserlerinde eleştirel bir şekilde işleyen ve sorgulayan sanatçılardan biri Murathan Mungan’dır. Üzerinde analizler yapılan “Şahmeran’ın Bacakları” başlıklı öykü Murathan Mungan’ın eserlerinden biridir ve Cenk Hikâyeleri adlı eserde yer almaktadır. Öykü, iç içe geçmiş dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. Hikâye, Şahmeran tasvirleri yapan Mahir Usta’nın yanına İlyas isimli bir çırağın işe başlamasını ve çalışma sürecinde İlyas’ın değişimini ve dönüşümünü konu edinmektedir. Çalışmadaki amaç, Mungan’ın “Şahmeran’ın Bacakları” isimli öyküsünde toplumsal cinsiyetin etkilerini gözlemlemek ve bu kavram çerçevesinde hikâyeyi analiz etmektir. Hikâyede erkek ve kadınla ilgili cinsiyetçi rollere dikkat çekilmekte ve yazar tarafından eleştirel bir şekilde anlatılmaktadır. Öyküde cinsiyetçi roller ile alakalı olarak erkeğin toplumdaki egemenlik mücadelesi, erkeğin zayıf yönlerinin aşağılanması, erkeğin inşasındaki hegemonik yapının sürdürülebilir olması ve kadının cinsel bir meta olarak görülmesi gibi konular işlenmiştir. Makalede öncelikle toplumsal cinsiyet kavramı ve toplumsal cinsiyetin edebiyatla olan ilişkisi incelenmiş ardından “Şahmeran’ın Bacakları” isimli öykü toplumsal cinsiyet bağlamında analiz edilmiştir.
The issue of gender covers a socially constructed structure rather than a biological phenomenon. This sexist approach, which we see in almost all fields, is also reflected in literary works by the authors and can leave an impact on the reader. In this respect, it is very important how the representations of gender roles in society are handled in the stories, which are literary works. One of the artists who critically approach and question the concept of gender in his works is Murathan Mungan. The story called “Şahmeran’ın Bacakları” (Şahmeran’s Leg’s), the story on which we analyzed, is one of the works of Murathan Mungan, and this story is included in the book Cenk Hikâyeleri. The story consists of four intertwined parts. As the subject of the story, An apprentice named İlyas starts to work with Mahir Usta, who makes depictions of Şahmeran.and the apprentice changes and transforms during the working process. The aim of the study is to observe the effects of gender in Mungan’s story “Şahmeran’ın Bacakları” and to analyze the story within the framework of this concept. In the story, subjects such as the struggle for dominance of men in society, the humiliation of men’s weaknesses, the sustainability of the hegemonic structure in the construction of men, and the view of women as a commodity are discussed in relation to sexist roles. In the article, first of all, the concept of gender and the relationship between gender and literature were examined, then the story called “Şahmeran’s Legs” was analyzed in the context of gender.
