Palu, tarihte pek çok devletin egemenliğine girmiş Doğu Anadolu bölgesinin önemli bir mevkiinde kurulmuş bir yerleşim merkezidir. Bulunduğu konum itibariyle Doğu Anadolu’yu, Güney Doğu Anadolu’ya bağlayan geçiş güzergâhı üzerinde yer almaktadır. Kadim bir geçmişe sahip olan Palu, tarihin her döneminde önemini korumuş ve devletlerin ele geçirmek istediği bir yer olma özelliği göstermiştir. Palu, tarihte yetiştirmiş olduğu ulema, müderris, bilim insanı, devlet adamı, gibi insan kaynağıyla da bilinmektedir. Palu’da tarihte pek çok eğitimli insanın yetişmiş olması Palu’nun köklü eğitim geçmişi ve kurumlarına sahip olduğunun kanıtıdır. Osmanlı Devleti’ndeki klasik eğitim kurumları olan medrese ve tekkeler Palu’da mevcuttu. Osmanlının eğitim faaliyetlerinin değişim ve dönüşüm geçirdiği 19. yüzyılda Palu’da bundan etkilenmiştir. Bu çalışmada Palu’da, Cumhuriyet dönemine kadar var olan eğitim kurumları olan medrese, ibtidailer, sıbyan mektepleri, rüştiyelerin öğrenci ve öğretmen sayısı, misyoner ve gayr-i müslim okullarının tür ve sayıları incelenmiştir.
Palu is a settlement center established in an important location in the eastern Anadolu region, which has entered the sovereignty of many states in history. It is located on the transition route that connects the East Anadolu to the Southeast Anadolu. Palu, which has an ancient history, has preserved its importance in every period of history and has shown its characteristic to be a place where states want to occupy. Palu is also known for its human resources, such as Ulema, Mederris, the scientist, the state man, which he has grown in history. The fact that many educated people have grown up in Palu in history is evidence that Palu has a rooted educational history and institutions. The classical educational institutions in the Ottoman State were medrese and tekkel in Palu. The 19th edition of the Translation and Transformation of Education. In this study in Palu, the educational institutions that existed until the period of the Republic, medrese, ibtidis, sibian letters, the number of students and teachers of the rusties, the types and numbers of missionaries and non-Muslim schools were studied.
