Abstract:

In this article, from Searle and Nagel’s conscious theories, we discuss what is “the validity of the physicist approach” and what is “the boundary of artificial intelligence”. First, in the article, the understanding that Searle defines the mental and conscious states as "powerful artificial intelligence" will be explained through Alan Turing's thought experiment known as "Taclistic Game" or "Turing Test". Then the conception of "biological naturalism" which Searle has presented as an alternative to dualism and physicalism, and the "China Room" argument which he developed to emphasize the boundaries of artificial intelligence, and the theses of the ontological-inductive physicalistic approach will be evaluated through Nagel's "subjective nature of the experience of consciousness" and "subjective nature of the type of experience". Finally, the two philosophers will be assessing their thoughts on the mind-body problem and consciousness as related to physicism and the influence of their attitudes on the debate on the boundaries of artificial intelligence.
