Abstract:

The current research study aims to analyze the articles on music education published in TR indexed journals between 2010 and 2020 from a thematic perspective. For this purpose, a total of 252 articles were examined through various variables, such as the author numbers, method and sample group. The research is based on qualitative type of descriptive survey model. The obtained data were analyzed through document analysis. The data obtained from the study demonstrate that the articles were mostly written by one or two authors. Considering the distribution of article types by years, it can be suggested that the interest in review articles has increased in recent years. The results reveal that music educators mostly do research on instrument training. Instrument education is followed by studies for formal education. The most preferred instrument type in the research on instrument training has been the piano. When the articles are examined according to research designs, it has been observed that the quantitative research design stands out, and the mixed research design is less preferred by the researchers. The data show that music educators generally prefer undergraduate students in their sample selection. When the preferred sample size data is examined, it is seen that the music educators mainly conduct their research with 11-30 participants. When the data collection tools used in the studies are examined, it can be seen that the questionnaire-scale data collection tool is highly preferred by the educators.
