Abstract:

Purpose: The study was conducted to identify the problems that individuals aged 65 and over experience at home after surgery, and to evaluate the relationship between the problem life status and socio-demographic characteristics. The research was carried out in the surgical clinics of a medical faculty hospital located in the center of the province of Konya between March and July 2016. The sample of the study was made by 227 individuals aged 65 and over who were undergoing surgery in these surgical clinics. The data were gathered using the indicative information form containing the socio-demographic characteristics of individuals and the question form to identify the problems in the home after the deportation in the first interview face in the patient's room, in the second interview a week after the deportation in the clinic face in the face, in the clinic invisible patients by telephone conversations. Data analysis used average, standard deviation, median, frequency and ratio, Mann Whitney U test and Pearson Ki-Kare test Yates Continuity Correction, Fisher's Exact test and Fisher Freeman Halton. The type of problems in the home after surgery was studied and it was found that the area of the surgery was 64.3 percent and the self-care activity was 52.9 percent. Sex, who is the person responsible for care, the relationship between the duration of sleep in the hospital after the surgery and the total duration of sleep in the hospital and the problem of living in the home was found.
