Abstract:

In this study, the word blessing, one of the Qur’ānic concepts, is examined. In this context, it is emphasized that Allah gives apparent and hidden blessings to people. This issue is analyzed based on the explanations of the commentators regarding the mentioned concepts. In this regard, the commentators were thinking about what these blessings are; they made statements about what was apparent and what were hidden blessings. According to them, the blessings we can know and perceive are apparent, and blessings that we don’t know and cannot perceive are hidden blessings. Indeed, as stated in the Qur’ān Allah has given many blessings to people. Some of these are apparent blessings, while the other are hidden blessings. However, Qur’ān does not express what is covered by what is apparent or what is hidden. Our study focuses on what can be included in this scope. Blessing offers people the opportunity to recognise and know their creator. As a result, one prefers gratitude to the Giver, or ungratefulness to blessing. At the same time, blessing reminds man to thank Allah. For this reason, it is only possible to be happy and peaceful in the life of the world and the hereafter, thanks to these blessings.
