Revelation is the messages that Allah sent to prophets to convey to other people and the way these messages were sent. In Kalam, whose field of study is belief, the subject of revelation has been mostly discussed in the subject of prophethood and divine books. In this context, the issue of whether or not Allah sent revelation to the Prophet besides the Quran has been discussed throughout history, especially by Islamic scholars. While some Islamic scholars hava the opinion that revelation besides the Quran is possible, others argue the opposite. Those who accept that there may be other revelations besides the Qur'an argued that some of the Prophet's words and doings may have originated from revelation. There are many expressions on this issue in the Quran and hadiths. Although it is quite difficult to make a clear judgment on this issue, it is possible to comment on the basis of some existing paradigms. In order to examine the issue systematically, it is useful to examine sunnah from two perspective. The first of these is the legislative sunnah. legislative sunnah refers to words and practices regarding religious decrees. The other is the non legislative sunnah, which is mostly about social life. While the legislative sunnah is considered to be originated from revelation, it is not possible to say this for non legislative sunnah in every respect.
