Abstract:

The amount of water available in the world and in our country is decreasing every day due to increased pollution and excessive consumption pressure on water resources. Especially with the increasing population and industrial activity, the negative impact of global climate change on water resources is increasing rapidly every day. Therefore, today, water use and savings are becoming more important and the use of resources with new strategies is needed efficiently and consciously. Industrial production with innovative technologies and the reduction of water consumption, the re-use of home-quality wastewater by cleansing, the use of fresh water from sea water in areas where water deficiency is intense and the alternative technologies for water resources such as rainwater harvesting in buildings are increasingly spreading throughout the world. The use of rainwater collected in the sustainable use of fresh water sources in many areas can create an alternative water source. Rain waters collected from the roofs of the building are used for household needs or other needs such as garden water, and according to other technologies, installation is quite simple. In this study, the design bases of the systems used in the rainwater harvest applications from buildings were studied and collected through a broad literary research and the cost of installation of rainwater harvest systems and the amortisation period was not included in the work scope.
