Avârız vergi tabanının tespiti ve tevzii için yapılan tahrirler sonucunda hazırlanan avanz defterleri, şimdiye kadar “mufassal” ve “icmâ ” türleriyle bilinmektedir. Ancak, arşiv çalışmaları sırasında tespit etmiş olduğumuz bazı örnekler, tıpkı klasik tahrir defterlerinde olduğu gibi—, mufassal ile icmâl arasında bir yer işgâl eden ve “mıgfassaI-icmâl” olarak isimlendirilebilecek olan üçüncü bir türü ortaya koymaktadır. Ait olduğu kazâ dâiresinde bulunan şehir, kasaba, köy ve köy-altı iskân yerlerinde avârız vergi tabanını oluşturan nüfus kategorilerinin çıkardıkları avârızhâne sayıları ile birlikte, toplam nefer olarak kaydedilmiş oldukları bu defterler, isimler ve ayrıntılı meslekî bilgiler hâriç olmak üzere, mufassal defterlere dayalı araştırmalar kadar demografik analiz imkânı vermeleri bakımından oldukça önemlidir. İşte, XVIII. yüzyıl başlarına ait Gümülcine kazâsı ile ilgili iki örneğe dayalı olarak hazırlanmış olan bu çalışma, söz konusu mufassal—icmal avârız defterlerinin tescili yanında, bu hususu vurgulamak üzere ortaya konulmuş bulunmaktadır
