Kur’an’ın muhtevasını anlamak için nüzul döneminin başından itibaren büyük çabaların sarf edildiğini görmekteyiz. Bununla ilgili olarak Kur’an’ın anlaşılması için tefsir usulünde birçok kaynak ve yöntem zikredilmektedir. Söz konusu kaynaklar arasında İsrâiliyat’ın önemli bir yere sahip olduğunu söyleyebiliriz. Genelde İslam, özelde tefsir kaynaklarını incelediğimizde, Hz. Muhammed (SAV) de dâhil olmak üzere, ilk dönemde yaşayan Müslümanlar Kur’an’ı anlama ve yorumlamada çekinmeden İsrâiliyat’a başvurmuşlardır, diyebiliriz. Onlar, İsrâiliyat’a müracaat etmenin herhangi bir olumsuz netice doğuracağı endişesine de kapılmamışlardır. Çünkü vahiy süreci içinde Kur’an, Tevrat ve İncil de mevcut olup, vahiy sürecinin bir bütünüdür. Kur’an, bu önceki vahiylerde anlatılmış olan konulara mücmel olarak hedefine ve ihtiyaca göre yer vermiştir. İşaret edilen bu konuları anlamak için Tevrat ve İncili bilmek ve onlara müracaat etmek ihtiyaç haline gelmiştir. Asr-ı Saadet döneminden uzaklaşıldıkça İsrâiliyat’la ilgili tutum olumsuz yönde değişmiştir. Tahminen hicri IV. asırdan sonra İsrâiliyat’ın bir ıstılahî terim olarak kullanılmaya başlaması, kanaatimizce, bu dönemlerden itibaren İslam âlimleri tarafından İsrâiliyat ile tefsir arasında da artık ihtiyatlı bir mesafenin/çizginin bulunması kanaatini de oluşturmuştur. Nitekim İslam âlimlerinin İsrâiliyat’la ilgili tutumları genelde olumsuzdur. Buna rağmen belirtmek gerekir ki hemen hemen bütün müfessirler ve Kur’an’ı farklı dillere çeviren ilim erbabı öyle veya böyle İsrâiliyat’tan istifade etmişlerdir. Biz bu çalışmamızda İsrâiliyat hakkında genel bilgi verdikten sonra ilim adamlarının İsrâiliyat’la alakalı tutumlarını tahlil etmeye çalıştık. Ayrıca İsrâiliyat’ın Kur’an’ı anlamada gerçekten bir öneme sahip olup olmadığını delilleriyle ortaya koyduk. Bu araştırmamızın amacı İsrâiliyat’ın tefsir ilminde olmazsa olmazlardan birisi olduğunu deliller eşliğinde ortaya koymaya çalışmaktır. Ne yazık ki son zamanlarda İsrâiliyat, lüzumsuz bir bilgi yığını olarak gözükmektedir. Hâlbuki İsrâiliyat tefsir ilminde en önemli parçalarından bir parçadır. Bu çalışmamızda İsrâiliyat’a farklı bir açıdan bakmayı hedefledik. Ayrıca bugüne kadar ele alınmayan örnekler eşliğinde İsrâiliyat’ın önemini açıkladık. Zamanın geçmesiyle Müslümanların İsrâiliyat’la alakalı dünya bakışı değişmiştir. İlk asırlarda İsrâiliyat’a senedi açısından olumsuz bakılırken şimdiki zamanda bilgi/muhteva açısından olumsuz bakılmaktadır.
We see that from the beginning of the period the great efforts were made to understand the greatness of the Qur’an. There are many sources and methods for the understanding of the Qur’an.
