This paper aims to remind that emergency refugees’ reception is not a first experience in the Greek State history by focusing on the case of Western Thrace between 1922 and 1928. What did it special? How was the reception in very difficult conditions? How was done the human cohabitation between Orthodox population drawn out of Turkey as Greeks, and Turkish speaking (in major part) Muslims allowed to stay in Thrace? 1928 has been chosen as final limit because it’s the end of the Society of Nations’ intervention in Thrace.
