Abstract:

One of the kinds of novels that the reader carefully follows is historical novels. In Turkish literature, such examples have been given. This kind of novel writer Alexander Fahrettin Sertelli has not announced his name to his subsequent period. That is why his novels could be more referred to in his time and a certain environment. In the novel Sumer Girl, the writer, who chose a historic topic, discussed the history of Sumer and Egypt, which founded the oldest civilizations in history. In the novel, the two ancient communities are told, and the readers are trying to be informed about this subject by giving a wide information about these communities. The Sumer and ancient Egyptian civilizations, which left deep traces in the history of their beliefs and cultural aspects as well as their historical and cultural aspects, are often mentioned in the novel with these aspects. In this study, we tried to study the reflections of Sumer and ancient Egyptian beliefs in the Roman of Alexander Fahrettin Sertelli's Sumer Girl. Through these objects of belief in the novel, an idea of the novel’s general and the author’s novel understanding was sought to be obtained. As a result, the writer’s understanding of history has a great influence on the subject and style of his novels.
