KURGU DIŞI TİCARİ KİTAPLARIN BİR MATERYAL OLARAK TARİH ÖĞRETİMİNDE KULLANIMI

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı, kurgu dışı ticari kitapların tarih öğretiminde materyal olarak kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik başarı ve tutumlarına olan etkisini belirlemek ve bu kitapların kullanımına yönelik öğrenci görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada karma yöntem desenlerinden açımlayıcı sıralı desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutunda yarı deneysel desen kullanılmış, nitel boyutunda ise öğrencilerle odak grup görüşmesi yapılmıştır. Çalışma, Ankara’da bulunan bir devlet okulunun 9. sınıfında öğrenim gören toplam 65 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Uygulama sürecinde toplam 5 hafta (10 ders saati) 9. sınıf Tarih Öğretim Programının Uygarlığın Doğuşu ve İlk Uygarlıklar ünitesi deney grubunda ders kitabının yanında yardımcı materyal olarak kurgu dışı ticari kitaplar ile kontrol grubunda ise sadece ders kitabı ile işlenmiştir. Araştırmada nicel veriler başarı testi ve tarih dersi tutum ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Nitel veriler ise görüşme formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Nicel verilerin analizinde, betimsel istatistikler, bağımlı ve bağımsız örneklem t-testi kullanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre deney ve kontrol gruplarının akademik başarıları arasında deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Uygulama sonunda her iki grubun tarih dersine yönelik tutumları orta düzeyde olumlu ve benzer olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu bulgudan hareketle kurgu dışı ticari kitapların öğrencilerin derse yönelik tutumlarında anlamlı bir etki yaratmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Nitel boyutun bulgularında ise deney grubunun büyük bir kısmı derse yönelik tutumlarında kurgu dışı ticari kitapların kullanımının olumlu yönde etkilerine ilişkin görüş bildirdikleri tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar ışığında tarih öğretiminde bu kitapların derse yönelik tutuma olan etkisi konusunda deneysel sürecin daha uzun süreli tasarlandığı araştırmaların yapılması önerilmiştir.

The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of the use of non-fiction commercial books as material in history teaching on the academic success and attitudes of students and to reveal the student views on the use of these books. In the study, the distinctive order patterns of the karma methods were used. In the quantum size of the study, a semi-experimental pattern was used, and in the quality size, a focus group interview with students was made. The study was conducted with a total of 65 students studying in the 9th grade of a state school located in Ankara. A total of 5 weeks (10 lessons hours) in the application process. Class History Teaching Program The Birth of Civilization and First Civilizations Unit in the experimental group along with the curriculum as a assistant material with non-fiction commercial books in the control group is only processed with the curriculum. Quantitative data in the study was collected using the success test and the history class attitude scale. The data is collected using the interview form. In the analysis of quantum data, visual statistics, dependent and independent sampling t-test was used. The analysis method is used in the analysis of the data. The findings from the research found a statistically meaningful difference between the academic achievements of the experiment and control groups in favour of the experiment group. At the end of the application, the attitudes of both groups towards the history course were found to be positive and similar at a medium level. This findings have come to the conclusion that non-fiction commercial books do not have a meaningful impact on the students' attitudes towards the classroom. In the findings of the quality size, the majority of the experimental group found their opinions about the positive effects of the use of non-fiction commercial books in their attitudes towards the lesson. In light of these findings, research was suggested to be conducted on the impact of the experimental process on the attitude of these books to the lesson in history teaching.

Use Of Nonfiction Trade Books As Materials In History Education

The objective of this study is to determine the effects of the use of trade nonfiction trade books education materials on the academic success and attitudes of students for the lesson and to find out the opinions of students on the use of such books. Explanatory sequential design among the mixed-method designs was used in the study. During this application, the history course was handled with nonfiction trade books as auxiliary material in addition to the coursebook in the experimental group and only the coursebook in the control group. Descriptive statistics, t-test for dependent and nondependent samples were used for the analysis of quantitative data. The interview form was used for the collection of qualitative data, and the data obtained were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. In light of the findings obtained from the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the study, it was concluded that use of nonfiction trade books has positive effects on the academic success of students. In the quantitative section of the study, attitudes of experimental and control groups for history lessons were measured, and it was concluded that both groups had medium level positive attitudes for the history lessons, which were similar to each other. In the quantitative section of the study, since the attitude scores of the experimental and control groups for history lessons were close to each other, it was concluded that the nonfiction trade books did not create significant effects on the attitudes of students for the course. In light of the findings obtained in the study, it is recommended that studies designed with longer periods for the investigation of the positive effects of nonfiction trade books in history education particularly on the attitudes of students for lessons should be carried out.
