Abstract:

This research was conducted to investigate the effect of e-literacy levels of breastfeeding mothers on their attitudes towards infant feeding. The sample of the descriptive, cross-sectional and relationship-seeking study consisted of 182 mothers who applied to Nevşehir State Hospital, Private Versa Hospital and Nevşehir Ürgüp Community Health Center pediatric outpatient clinics between April 15 and July 15, 2019 and agreed to participate in the study. Research data were obtained with descriptive data collection form, Iowa Infant Nutrition Attitude Scale and E-health Literacy Scale. It was determined that 67.6% of the mothers participating in the study were at high school or higher education level, 51.6% fed their babies only with breast milk, and 69.2% of them used the internet as a source about infant nutrition. A weak positive correlation was found between mothers' E-Health Literacy and Infant Nutrition Attitude scale mean scores (p<0.05). As the e-health literacy rate increases, the tendency of mothers to breastfeed increases. In this case, nurses working in the field should also be provided with the development of e-health literacy and the information needs of nursing mothers should be met.
