Abstract:

Compliance with the needs of social gender roles can be stressful for the individual. In this study, the aim of the development of the male social gender role stress scale in the Turkish culture. For this purpose, first, a qualified study was conducted on 201 male students and materials for the scale of stress of male social gender role were written, starting from the topics that men are most difficult to experience. In the framework of scale validity and reliability studies, a total of 595 male students continuing their undergraduate and postgraduate studies in different universities in Turkey have been applied. Expert opinion for the scope of the scale was taken. The validity of the structure is tested with the opening and verifying factor analysis. Also, the scale of the measurement related validity has been studied. The reliability of the measurement was tested by calculating the Cronbach Alfa internal consistency ratio (Alpha = ,90) and the correlation ratio (,91) between the test re-test method and two separate measurements. As a result, it has been found that ETCRSÖ is a valid and reliable measurement tool that measures the social sex role of men in the Turkish culture.
