Abstract:

In order to identify changes that may occur in some clinical, hematological, biochemical and ECG findings in dogs naturally infected with Dirofilaria immitis, the study used a total of 22 dogs of a variety of races and gender between the ages of 1 and 9. A significant increase in the heart and respiratory rate average (p<0,05) in Dirofilariosis dogs, a significant decrease in the RBC, PCV and MCV values average (p<0,05) and a significant decrease in the Hb values average (p>0,05) and a significant increase in the WBC values average (p<0,05) With regard to the differential blood table, a significant increase in the number of neutrophils (p<0.05), a significant increase in the number of eozinophils and basophiles (p>0.05), and a significant decline in the number of lymphocytes and monocytes (p<0.05). There was a slight decline in the pH, pCO2 and pO2 of the venous blood values, while a significant decline in the HCO3 and BE values (p<0,05) was observed. Serum total protein and glucose values were not significant (p>0.05), and serum urine, ALT, AST, CK and AP values were significantly increased (p<0.05). In ECG, depression in the ST segment was observed in 5 dogs with dirofilariosis, and extension in the PQ interval in 2 dogs. As a result, it has been found that dogs with dirofilariosis have changes in some hematological, biochemical, venous blood gases and ECG parameters and in them they can be effective in the diagnosis and prognosis of the disease.
