The practice of physical exercise is linked to the improvement of body and mental health. Aerobic gymnastics is a model of physical activity widely used among adult women, however little if the time of this practice is related to flexibility and quality of life in this public. The objective of this research was to verify the association between training time, BMI, quality of life and levels of flexibility in aerobic gymnastics practitioners. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach, carried out between the period of September and November 2019. The sample was composed of 50 women practicing aerobics for at least three months, divided into two groups: G1 (practitioner’s gymnastics for less than 12 months) and G2 (gymnastics practitioners for more than 12 months). All participants answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, a quality-of-life questionnaire (SF-36), were assessed anthropometrically and took the sit and reach flexibility test. The mean age of 39.7 (± 10.6 years), weight of 64.5 (± 9.3 kg) and a height of 1.60 (± 0.1 cm) and the body mass index 26, 2 (± 3.3 kg / m2). G2 had higher scores in the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire, in the domains: physical function, pain, physical role limitation, mental role limitation and energy vitality. As for the flexibility test, about 78% of G1 had a poor rating. More than half of the G2 (67%) also scored poorly. Excellent and average ratings totaled 9% in G1 and 15% in G2. It is concluded that adults who practice more than 12 months of aerobic gymnastics have better rates of quality of life and flexibility, when compared to adults with less experience in this type of physical activity
