Floods are one of the natural disasters that occur in every period of history and cause great damage. Mecca, which is the holiest city of Muslims in terms of religion, has been subjected to many floods and devastations since its foundation in terms of its geographical location and natural features. During the Mamluks, who dominated the Hijaz after their establishment in 1250, the city of Mecca was subjected to about 40 floods, religious places and dwellings where the people of Mecca lived were severely damaged during these raids, and people, including Muslims who were in Mecca to perform their pilgrimage duties, losses were experienced. The Kaaba and its surroundings suffered the most during the floods that occurred, and casualties were also experienced here. Floods had negative effects on social and economic life in the city, and sudden price increases left Meccans and pilgrims in a difficult situation. On the days of flood disasters and immediately after, prayers were interrupted.
