Abstract This article approaches the first phase of Siniestro Total’s trajectory, which was developed mainly during the 1980’s. The musical group inspiration in radical Avantgarde spirit and techniques founds a transgressive and mordacious creative take that enables an intensely corrosive dealing with the social, political and economic context of that epoch. The first section analyses their use of Dadaist methods and stances, closely related to punk, and the second part studies the task of criticism and testimony carried out by their songs, which come to conform a complete sample of contemporary society, as well as the complex and subtle negotiations between the international, the state, and the national-local scales showed in some of their songs.
