Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the study is to determine the level of depression, anxiety and stress in nurses who care for patients with Corona virus. Subject and Methods: The population of the descriptive study, which was carried out in September 2020, consisted of nurses who care for patients with corona virus (Covid-19) at Bilecik State Hospital. The sample consisted of 70 nurses who can be reached during the data collection process, who voluntarily agree to participate in the study, are over 18 years old, have decision-making ability, do not have any psychological illness, do not use any psychological medication, and provide care to patients with corona virus. Diagnostic Form and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS 21) were used in the study. Data were evaluated using descriptive tests and comparative statistical methods. The significance level was accepted as p<0.05. Results: The mean age of the nurses participating in the study was 30.9±7.6 (20-46) years. 80% (n=56) of the participants were women, 52.9% (n=37) were married, 60% (n=42) were university graduates, 40% (n=28) had 10 years or more professional experience. he had. The total score averages obtained fromthe DASS-21 scale applied to the nurses; It was determined as 11.39±4.46 in the depression sub-dimension, 14.13±3.74 in the anxiety sub-dimension, and 14.01±3.70 in the stress subdimension. Accordingly, it was determined that 37.1% (n=26) of the participants experienced very severe depression, 85.7% (n=60) experienced very severe anxiety, and 41.4% (n=29) experienced severe stress symptoms. Conclusion. It has been found that the symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress are at high levels in nurses who care for patients with Corona virus. All these factors can also affect the quality of care provided. It would be beneficial to increase the promotion and recommendation of empowerment programs such as the Ministry of Health's Covid-19 psychosocial support service and the Online Spiritual Support Program in the Corona Virus Pandemic (KORDEP).
