İklim değişikliği, özellikle son birkaç yüzyıldır önem kazanan ve dünya genelinde birçok farklı alanda olumsuz etki yaratan konulardan biri olarak ön plana çıkmaktadır. Dünyada olduğu gibi, ülkemizde de etkisini hissettiğimiz iklim değişikliğinin oluşturduğu olumsuzluklardan biride, kültürel miraslarımız üzerindeki etkisidir. Bu makalede, Elazığ’da yaşanan iklim değişikliğinin, Ermeni mimarisi izleri taşıyan Khule Surp Kevork Kilisesi ve çevresi üzerindeki etkileri incelenmiştir. Kentin iklimi ve klimatolojik değişkenleri üzerine yapılan bilimsel çalışmalar ve analizler ışığında, yok olmaya yüz tutmuş kilisenin, iklim değişikliği kaynaklı yapısal ve çevresel bozulmaları ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuç bölümünde kültürel sürekliliğin izlenmesi açısından korunması ve geleceğe aktarılması önemli olan kilise ve çevresi için, iklim değişikliği etkilerini hafifletecek önlemler ve korumaya yönelik çözüm stratejileri üretilmiştir.
Climate change stands out as one of the issues that has gained importance especially in the last few centuries and has negative effects in many different areas around the world. One of the negative effects of climate change, which we feel in our country as well as in the world, is its effect on our cultural heritage. In this article, the effects of the climate change in Elazig on the Khule Surp Kevork Church and its surroundings, which bear the traces of Armenian architecture, were examined. In the light of scientific studies and analyzes on the climate and climatological variables of the city, the structural and environmental deterioration of the church, which is on the verge of extinction, due to climate change has been discussed. In the conclusion part of the study, for the church and its surroundings, which are important to protect and transfer to the future in terms of monitoring cultural continuity, measures to mitigate the effects of climate change and solution strategies for protection have been produced.
