Abstract:

Britain officially tookover the management of Cyprus with the Treaty of Lausanne from Turkey. However after the Second World War it has began struggle for independence in the colonies. Cyprus also begun the struggle for independence. Two thirds of the population of Cyprus was consisted of Greeks. However Greeks aimed to achieve Enosis with this fight. Turkey that opposed Enosis became a party to the matter. Turkey’s primary goal is to preserve the status quo. Unless has it, it has requested to given the island to Turkey. London Conference held in 1955 is distributed without result. Turkey has started to move with a new thesis. Turkey has requested the division of the island. Nihat Erim report has been submitted to the Prime Minister on 24November 1956. In this report has been evaluated in follow the policies of Turkey until now. In addition, It has been discussed how is going to be used International law sandin stitutions of the Cyprus problem by Turkey
