Abstract The link between population and society is addressed from the perspective of labor resources, the current state of these resources is characterized and its current good moment is considered, but also the threats it faces from demographic phenomena such as aging and the danger of its substantial reduction given the negative replacement level of the Cuban population. All this is related to the contradictions of work as a social process in the current Cuban reality, with emphasis on recent findings of sociological research and the threat that migratory processes, both internal and external, represent for its better distribution, retention and use in the country.
