Abstract:

All living creatures in nature have moved with a competitive impulse in all historical processes from the past to the present day. When this situation is assessed by the human factor, the circumstances that create competitive superiority arise first with the attempt to find the good one. Design competitions, which are an important factor in the formation of human needs over time and the mechanism of competition along with the industrial revolution, are very important for the furniture industry in terms of the sustainability of competitiveness, the development of new innovations and the skills that reveal these innovations. In this study, two competitions were selected, which were considered to have created competitive superiority, aimed at studying the effects of furniture design competitions on the development of the furniture industry. The OAIB (Middle Anadolu Exporters Association) Design For Export National Furniture Design Competition and the MOSDER (Turkey Furniture Industries Association) National Furniture Design Competition, which forms the components of the competitions defined as the institution, jury members and competitors, have been subjected to conversation records coding. The content of the themes created as a result of coding has been evaluated in many ways. As a result, the design problems experienced in the competitions, the industry problems and all the problems related to the competition processes were identified and solutions proposed.
