Abstract:

This study aims to examine military coup in Argentina. Latin American countries offer a very rich example in terms of military coups. Argentina is one of the Latin American countries that suffered many military coups in her political history. In this context, military coups that took place in Argentina in 1930, 1943, 1955, 1962, 1966 and 1976 will be examined by literature review. Military coups will be examined through a system of social, political and economic influences. 1976 military coup is going to be analysed in detail since it keeps up-to-date and Turkey has experienced such processes also. The military coups that have taken place since the 1960s in the region are considered different from the previous ones. Argentinian political scientist O'Donnell 1979 described the military coup d'état as "bureaucratic authoritarianism", which took its course from its own country and formed after the 1960s in the region.O'Donnell, in fact, has carried out the economic-political analysis of the military coup while reaching this conception and interprets it through the falling down of the import substitution policies. In the study, the 1966 and 1976 coups will be evaluated within this framework
