Abstract:

Today, the place of information technology in our lives is increasingly increasing. The development of these technologies has affected not only adults, but also children. This interaction between man and technology has not only been limited to virtual environments, but has also started to affect social life. Digital games, which are the popular entertainment tools of digital technologies, are greatly interested in children. The use of digital games in areas such as education is beneficial, but the use of violent digital games is a risk for children. In this context, the parents have significant responsibilities. Protecting children from the potential risks of the digital world is a very important issue for today’s adults. The concept of digital parentality used for parents who know the digital world well and use these technologies in everyday life is a topic today being discussed. In this context, this study examined the views of the facts of violence in digital gaming of digital parents. The theoretical framework of this study is formed by cultural indicators and bread theory. This study applied semi-configured interview technique and content analysis of quality research methods. According to the results of the research, the participating parents are aware of violence in digital games. Parents have said they are taking measures against the violence content in digital games. Parents also emphasized the need for specialized support in digital games.
