Abstract:

In this study, the problems faced by the education inspectors working in provinces during the inspection and investigation process and solutions for them were sought for. This qualitative research is designed as a case study, in which opinions of education inspectors are obtained through face-to-face interviews. Interviews are conducted with 19 education inspectors in Düzce, Bolu and Sakarya Provincial Directorates of National Education and determined with the maximum diversity sampling method. The data are analyzed using the content analysis method. At the end of the research, the problems mentioned by education supervisors are determined as unclear inspection and investigation approvals, the presence of ambiguous statements, the inclusion of the issues which are not based on concrete information and documents to examination and investigation, late arrival of the requested information and documents. Other problems are found out as the workload of the inspectors, assignment of some other duties that are not included in the job description, the legal gap, the dual inspector system, the absence of the exact values of the criminal acts in the laws, bad personal and financial rights, the abeyance of the suggestions made by authorities, and the union pressures. Suggestions for those problems are presented in conclusion.
