The article discusses the protective policies Europe has faced with the issue of immigration and refuge in recent years through Orientalism. The Orientalism, which the West has developed so long ago to understand the East, is that the West defines itself by self-externalizing the East. As a result of the conflict in Syria, the EU countries remain insensitive and insufficient. The Syrian refugees, who are a member of a non-Western civilization and seek to go to the West, are a threat to the sacred values of modern Europe. The EU agreements signed with Turkey and the refugees were removed from the European borders and left in Turkey, which is the border of the European Union to the Middle East. The European Union, with this European-centric approach, has interpreted the refugee problem and shaped the position of Turkey.
