Abstract:

Corporate Governance Rating is a view of a business's adoption of corporate governance practices. It informs the stakeholders about the level of corporate governance practices of the institution. There are many corporate rating firms in the world. The Capital Markets Board in Turkey published the "Turkey Corporate Governance Principles" in 2003 and, in 2007 the principles of the sector were published in the Official Gazette. In this study, it is investigated whether there is a relationship between the effectiveness of companies that implement corporate governance principles and their corporate rating scores. For this purpose, 33 companies are selected from BIST Corporate Governance Index (XKURY) index to get data. The efficiency of the companies is calculated by data envelopment analysis using annual data for the years 2017-2020. The results show that effective companies are concentrated in some sectors and that the pandemic period reduces corporate governance scores and efficiency rates.
