Çeşitli sağlık sorunları sebebiyle ile hastanede yatarak tedavi olan çocukların eğitim-öğretim yaşantısından geri kalmaması için hastane okulları açılmıştır. Bu sayede okul dönemi çocuklarının, hastanede geçirecekleri süre boyunca, eğitiminde kayıplar yaşamaması hedeflenmiştir. Hastane okulları; çocuk hastaneleri içerisinde yer alan, okul dönemi çocukların katılım sağlayarak devam edebilecekleri bir ya da birkaç derslik, öğretmen ve yönetici odalarını içeren eğitim birimleri olarak tanımlamaktadır (Baykoç, 2006). Herhangi bir sebepten dolayı hastanede uzun süreli veya yatarak tedavi görmesi gereken çocukların sosyal hayatı ve eğitimi sekteye uğramaktadır. Oysa eğitim; din, dil, sosyal statü, ırk ayrımı gözetmeksizin her çocuğun sahip olduğu temel haklardan birisidir. Bu çalışmada, herhangi bir sağlık sebebinden dolayı örgün eğitim hayatından yoksun kalan çocukların hastane okullarında aldıkları eğitimi görsel sanat eğitimi özelinde incelemektedir. İnsanın kendisini ifade etme ve başkalarıyla iletişim kurma yollarından birisi olarak sanat, bireyin sosyal veya duygusal sorunlarıyla başa çıkmak için başvurabileceği yöntemlerden birisidir. Doğası gereği hastane okullarında verilen sanat eğitimi, terapötik bir etkiye sahiptir. Hasta çocukların; bulundukları durumu olumlu yönde algılamada ve/veya sanat çalışmalarının önemi görülmektedir.
Children who are hospitalized due to various health problems have been opened to prevent children from leaving behind their educational life. This means that the children of the school period, during the time they spend in the hospital, do not experience losses in their education. Hospital schools are defined as educational units located within children’s hospitals, which include one or more classrooms, teachers and administrative rooms where school-period children can continue by providing participation (Baykoç, 2006). For any reason, the social life and education of children who need to be treated in the hospital for a long time or in bed is subject to sects. Education, however, is one of the fundamental rights of every child, regardless of religion, language, social status, and racial discrimination. In this study, the education that children who are missing from their daily educational life due to any health reasons receive in the hospital schools is examined in the visual art education special. As one of the ways a person expresses himself and communicates with others, art is one of the ways a person can use to deal with social or emotional problems. The art education given in hospital schools by nature has a therapeutic effect. The patient’s status is positive in the perception and/or the importance of artwork.

The social life and education of children who need long-term or inpatient treatment for any reason are interrupted. Yet education; lt is one of the fundamental rights every child has regardless of religion, language, social status, or race. In this study, the education of children who are deprived of formal education due to any health reasons in hospital schools is examined in terms of visual arts education. Art, as one of the ways of expressing oneself and communicating with others, is one of the methods that an individual can use to cope with his social or emotional problems. By its very natüre, art education given in hospital schools has a therapeutic effect. Sick children; the importance of artistic works and/or perception of their situation in a positive way is seen.
