Starting with the transition to settled life and continued with urban life, migrating from rural areas to cities, people miss to see the flowering geophytes in the early spring longing for the carnations remaining in the flowers until autumn more and more. Especially in landscaping at the landmark points of big cities, the same monotonous plantings made with the same flowers during the sameperiod of the year are away from people's interest and it creates concrete effect in human. However, the temperature zone in which our country is located allows many plant species to live together. In today's urban landscape planting, where the water constraint makes itself felt, it is targeted as much as aesthetics; it is the creation of herbal spaces that can last for many years with minimum maintenance. In this context, scientific investigations has been made on 37 plant taxa (4 of which are endemic) which have the potential to be ornamental plants that are naturally grown in the Turkey National Botanical Garden. Of these materials, on behalf of identification of drought resistant species to prevent from drougt in our climate zone, affecting the use of plant species in landscaping; flower (color, size, flowering period and such), leaf and life forms were determined one by one and photographed. Tables related to these plants have been created and suggestions have been made regarding the use of plants in urban open green areas by considering the prominent elements of the landscape.
