Son yıllarda Facebook kullanımına ilişkin gerçekleştirilen araştırmaların sonuçları, Facebook’un algılanan eksikliklerin telafisi ya da olumsuz ruh durumu ve problemlerden kaçış motivasyonuyla kullanılabildiğini ve bu durumun da Facebook bağımlılığına neden olduğunu göstermektedir. Facebook’un kullanıcı sayısı bakımından en popüler internet sitelerinden ve sosyal ağlardan biri olduğu düşünüldüğünde, aşırı kullanımıyla ilişkili değişkenlerin tespit edilmesi önem kazanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, bu araştırmanın amacı Facebook bağımlılığının açıklanmasında sürekli umudun ve ruh sağlığı sürekliliğinin rolünü belirlemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini tamamı Facebook kullanıcısı olan 410 üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri Facebook Bağımlılığı Ölçeği, Sürekli Umut Ölçeği, Ruh Sağlığı Sürekliliği Ölçeği ve Demografik Bilgi Formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Veri analizinde Pearson product-moment korelasyon katsayısı ve çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada Facebook bağımlılığı ile sürekli umut ölçeğinin alt boyutlarından alternatif yollar (r= -0.283, p<0.01) ve eyleyici düşünce (r= -0.211, p<0.05) arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanında Facebook bağımlılığı ile ruh sağlığı sürekliliğinin alt boyutlarından sosyal iyi olma (r= -0.230, p<0.01) ve psikolojik iyi olma (r= -0.252, p<0.01) arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu bulunmuştur. Çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi sonuçlarına göre sürekli umudun alt boyutları olan alternatif yollar (B= -0.292, p<0.001) ve eyleyici düşünce (B= -0.224, p<0.001) Facebook bağımlılığının anlamlı birer yordayıcısıdır. Ruh sağlığı sürekliliğinin alt boyutlarından ise psikolojik iyi olmanın anlamlı bir yordayıcı olduğu (B= -0.123, p<0.01) belirlenmiştir. Bağımsız değişkenlerin Facebook bağımlılığındaki toplam varyansı açıklama oranı ise %24 olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları Facebook bağımlılığının açıklanmasında sürekli umudun alternatif yollar açıısndan, ruh sağlığı sürekliliğinin ise psikolojik iyi olma açısından rollerinin anlamlı olduğunu göstermektedir.
The results of recent research on the use of Facebook show that Facebook can be used to compensate for the detected shortcomings or with a motivation to escape from negative mood and problems, which also causes Facebook addiction. Considering that Facebook is one of the popular websites and social networks in terms of the number of users, it becomes important to identify the variables associated with its overuse. In this context, the purpose of this research is to determine the role of continuous hope and mental health continuity in the disclosure of Facebook addiction. The study includes 410 university students who are Facebook users. The research data was collected using the Facebook Addiction Scale, the Continuous Hope Scale, the Mental Health Continuity Scale and the Demographic Information Form. Data analysis uses Pearson product-moment correlation ratio and multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The study found that there was a negative relationship between Facebook addiction and the lower dimensions of the constant hope scale (r= -0.283, p<0.01) and action thinking (r= -0.211, p<0.05). In addition, Facebook addiction and mental health continuity have found a negative relationship between social well-being (r= -0.230, p<0.01) and psychological well-being (r= -0.252, p<0.01). According to the results of the multi-linear regression analysis, the alternate paths (B= -0.292, p<0.001) and action thinking (B= -0.224, p<0.001) are a meaningful indicator of Facebook dependency. The lower dimensions of the continuity of mental health have been determined that psychological well-being is a meaningful contributor (B= -0.123, p<0.01). The total variation indication rate in Facebook dependency of independent variables is 24%. The research results show that the continuous hope in the disclaimer of Facebook addiction is significant in terms of alternative ways, while the continuity of mental health is meaningful in terms of psychological well-being.

In this context, aim of the present study is to examine roles of dispositional hope and mental health continuum predicting Facebook addiction. Sample of study includes 410 university students and all of them are Facebook users. Demographic Data Form developed by researchers, Dispositional Hope Scale and Mental Health Continuum Short Form were used as data collection instruments. Before analysis, normal distribution data was tested. In analysis, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression analysis were used. Pearson correlation coefficient yielded significant and negative relationships between Facebook addiction and pathways (r=-0.283, p<0.05) and agency (r=-0.211, p<0.05) sub-dimensions of dispositional hope. Besides, Facebook addiction was found negatively correlated to social well-being (r=-0.230, p<0.05) and psychological well-being (r=-0.252, p<0.05) sub-dimensions of mental health continuum. Results of multiple linear regression analysis showed pathways (B=-0.292, p<0.01), agency (B= -0.224, p<0.05) sub-dimensions hope and psychological well-being (B=-0.123, p<0.05) sub-dimension mental health continuum were significant predictors of Facebook Addiction. Overall model explained 24 % of total variance Facebook Addiction. Results of study showed pathways and agency sub-dimensions of dispositional hope and psychological well-being subdimension of mental health continuum are meaningful predictors of Facebook addiction.
