Abstract:

This study aims to assess the influence of perceived stress on care behaviors among nursing students. This study was conducted as a relational-correlation study between October 2022 to January 2023. The research encompasses a population of 800 nursing students enrolled in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th grades, all of whom are engaged in clinical practice. At the end of the study, 264 students were reached. The studies data were gathered through an online approach. The study employed the Introductory Information Form, the Perceived Stress Scale for Nursing Students, and the Caring Behaviors Inventory-24 for data collection. A significance level of p<0.05 was employed for statistical comparisons. In the study, nursing students exhibited a mean score of 74.06 ± 23.61 on the Perceived Stress Scale, while scoring an average of 3.31 ± 0.55 on the Caring Behaviors Inventory. A statistically significant and negative correlation was found between the mean scores of the Perceived Stress Scale and the Caring Behaviors Inventory (p<0.05). Furthermore, the Perceived Stress Scale for Nursing Students exerted a statistically significant effect on the Caring Behaviors Inventory (p<0.001). Perceived stress was found to predicts 13.9% of the variance in caring behaviors. This study indicated that nursing students exhibit moderate levels of perceived stress and caring behaviors. The findings highlight a concerning association between heightened stress level and a diminished perception of care quality among nursing students.
