CHROMOSOMAL PROPERTİES OF ALBURNOİDES BİPUNCTATUS (BLOCH, 1782) (ACTİNOPTERYGİİ, CYPRİNİDAE)

Abstract:

In this study, chromosomal researches were carried out on the Sakarya River (Turkey) population of Alburnoides bipunctatus (Bloch, 1782). Metaphase chromosomes were obtained from kidney cells. The diploid chromosome number was 2n=50; consisting of 7 pairs of metacentric, 13 pairs of submetacentric and 5 pairs of subtelocentric chromosomes. Fundamental arm number (NF) was 90. Constitutive heterochromatin regions were determined on the centromeres of several chromosomes by C-banding. Also, NOR was determined on the short arms of one pair of chromosome. This study may contribute to fish cytogenetics.
