Tez yazım sürecinde öğrenci ile danışmanı arasındaki iletişim önemlidir. Bu iletişimin yüz yüze ve belli bir sıklıkta olması tezin kalitesine olumlu katkı sağlar. Ancak tez öğrencisinin danışmanı tarafından tez sürecindeki faaliyetlerinin uzaktan izlenmesi de gerekmektedir. Yüz yüze iletişimin bazı nedenlerden dolayı sekteye uğraması öğrencinin tez sürecinde sorumluluklarını yerine getirmemesine ve kontrol altında olmadığını hissederek tez planının dışına çıkmasına neden olabilir. Bu durumun önüne geçmek için danışman ve öğrenci arasında ortak bir çalışma platformunun olması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmamızda akademik araştırma ve yazım süreçlerinde kullanılan programlardan biri olan Zotero’nun grup özelliğini inceleyerek tez öğrencisi ile danışmanı arasında programın bu özelliğinin nasıl bir iletişim köprüsü oluşturabileceğini ortaya koyduk. İnternet üzerinden literatür taraması yapmak, bulunan literatürün künyelerini kaydetmek ve kaynakları kategorize etmek gibi tez yazım sürecinin önemli aşamalarında öğrencinin izlenmesini ve katkı almasını sağlayabilen Zotero’nun Grup özelliği, tez öğrencisinin danışmanı tarafından uzaktan izlenmesini mümkün kılmaktadır. Araştırmamızda programın bu özelliğinin nasıl aktif edildiğini ve nasıl kullanıldığının yanı sıra danışmanın bu özelliği kullanarak öğrencisine ne tür katkı sağlayabileceğini inceledik.

Communication between the student and the thesis supervisor is important during the thesis writing process. Face to face and a certain frequency of this communication makes a positive contribution to the quality of the thesis. However, the supervisor of the thesis should monitor the student’s actvities during the process remotly too. Face-to-face communication may be disrupted for some reasons and the student may fail to fulfill his/her responsibilities in the process of the thesis and may feel that he is not under control and may lead to the dissolution of his/her thesis plan. In order to avoid this situation, there should be a common working platform between the supervisor and the student. In this study, we investigated the Group feature of Zotero, one of the programs used in academia during research and writing processes and also we explored how a communication bridge could be formed between the thesis student and his/her supervisor. Zotero's group feature enables the supervisor to monitor the thesis student remotely during the activities of the thesis writing process, such as literature review on the internet, recording the identities of the literature and categorizing the resources. In our study, we examined how this feature of the program is activated and how it is used, and how the supervisor can contribute to his/her student by using this feature.
