Giriş ve Amaç: Dünyanın bilim alanında başı çeken ülkeleri tarafından uluslararası bilimsel dergilerde yayınlanan ve atıf alan yayınları temel alarak hazırlanan indeksler yükseköğretim kurumları ve ülkeler tarafından bilimsel performansı değerlendirmede kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada bibliyometrik analiz yöntemi kullanılarak uluslararası yayın etkinliklerinin performansı değerlendirilerek, Türkiye’de fizyoloji alanında yapılan çalışmaların yayın-atıf sayılarının ve bilimsel performanslarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bununla birlikte, fizyoloji bilim dalında en çok çalışmanın yapıldığı üniversiteler, belirlenen yıllar arasında yayınlanan makale sayıları derlenerek ülkemizin fizyoloji bilim dalına katkıları ve bu alanlardaki gelişmelerin mevcut akademik ilerleyiş, yönetmeliklerce belirlenen gidişat ile paralelliğini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Thomson Reuters tarafından geliştirilen Web of Science veri tabanında 1984-2019 aralığında konu olarak fizyoloji seçilerek makaleler listelenmiştir. Ülke olarak Türkiye seçilmiş ve bu başlıktaki yayın ve atıflar taranmıştır. Bu yıllar arasında Web of Science üzerinden “analyze result ve create citation report” fonksiyonları kullanılarak üniversiteler, yayınlar ve atıf sayıları bulunmuştur. Bulgular: Listeden Türkiye haricindeki üniversiteler çıkarıldığında 1.117 makaleye ulaşılmıştır. 1.117 yayına ait toplam atıf sayısı 14.804 olarak bulunmuştur. Bu atıfların yalnızca %1,05’i kendi kendilerine yapılan atıflardan oluştuğu görülmüştür. Sonuçlar: 1.117 yayın içerisinden en çok atıf alan ilk 10 çalışma listelenmiştir. Türkiye genelinde fizyoloji bilim dalı ile ilişkili olarak en çok yayına sahip ilk 3 üniversite; İstanbul Üniversitesi, Hacettepe Üniversitesi ve Ankara Üniversitesi olarak belirlenmiştir. Dünya genelinde fizyoloji bilim dalı ile ilişkili olarak yapılan çalışmalar değerlendirildiğinde en çok çalışma yapan ilk 3 ülke sırasıyla Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, İngiltere ve Almanya iken Türkiye bu sıralamada 26. ülke olarak yer almıştır. Sağlık bilimleri alanında yapılan tüm çalışmalara bakıldığında ise fizyoloji bilim dalının 2. sırada yer alarak çok sayıda yayına konu olduğu görülmüştür. Oluşturulan akademik teşvik ve destek programlarının, akademik yükselme basamağı olan doçentlik sınav yönetmeliğinde yapılan değişikliklerin ve yurtdışında değişim programlarına katılıp ardından ülkemize geri dönüp çalışmalarını sürdüren araştırmacılarımızın bu artışta etkili olduğu değerlendirilmektedir.
Introduction and Purpose: The indicators published in international scientific journals by the world’s leading scientists and prepared on the basis of reference field publications have begun to be used in the scientific performance assessment by higher education institutions and countries. This study, using the bibliometric analysis method, aimed at assessing the performance of international broadcasting activities, determining the number of broadcasting and scientific performance of studies in the field of physiology in Turkey. However, the universities in which many studies have been carried out in the field of physiology have been aimed at demonstrating the contribution of our country to the field of physiology sciences by aggregating the number of articles published between the defined years and the current academic progress in these fields, the parallelity with the progress determined by the regulations. Tools and Methods: The Web of Science database developed by Thomson Reuters listed articles by selecting physiology as a topic in the period 1984-2019. Turkey has been chosen as a country and the publications and references in this title have been scanned. During these years, universities, publications and reference numbers have been found using the functions "analyze result and create citation report" through the Web of Science. Results: When universities other than Turkey were removed from the list, 1,117 articles were reached. The total number of references for 1,117 publications was 14,804. It was found that only 1.5% of these references consisted of references made to themselves. Results: The first 10 posts listed with a number of references from 1,117 posts. The first 3 universities with many publications related to the discipline of physiology in all over Turkey; Istanbul University, Hacettepe University and Ankara University have been identified. According to the study, the first three countries to study in the world are the United States, the UK and Germany, while Turkey is ranked 26th in this ranking. With regard to all the studies conducted in the field of health sciences, it has been found that the field of physiology sciences is ranked 2nd and has been subject to a large number of publications. The academic incentive and support programs created, the changes made in the regulations of the PhD exam, which is the stage of academic upgrading, and our researchers who participate in exchange programs abroad and then return to our country and continue to work are estimated to be effective in this increase.

In addition, it is aimed to reveal the contributions of our universities to the physiology branch and the current academic progress of the developments in these fields and their parallelism with the course determined by the regulations. Materials and Methods: The Web of Science database developed by Thomson Reuters in the range of 1984-2019 was selected as the subject of physiology and articles were listed. Turkey was chosen as a country and publications on this topic and citations were screened. During these years, universities, publications and citation numbers were found by using, “analyze result and create citation report” functions via Web of Science. Findings: When universities except Turkey are removed from the list, 1117 articles have been attained. The total number of citations of 1,117 publications was 14,804. Only 1.05% of these citations were attributed to their own references. Results: Top 10 most cited studies were listed in 1,117 publications. Top three universities which have most publications about physiology in Turkey are Istanbul University, Hacettepe University and Ankara University. Top three countries which have most studies about physiology are United States, Britain and Germany, respectively. Although Turkey is in 26th place in the list. When we look at all the studies in the field of health sciences, it is seen that the physiology branch is in the 2nd place and it is the subject of many publications. It is evaluated that the academic encouragement and support programs, the amendments of the associate professorship examination regulations and our researchers, who continue their studies by returning back to our country after participating in the exchange programs abroad are effective in this increase.
