Abstract:

The Silent City (Cittaslow) movement, which is an alternative to the urbanization and the complex form of life, was established with the aim of keeping peaceful life, cultural and natural heritage, local identity and local food sustainable by preserving. With the Covid-19 process, people are now preferring natural life, turning to settlements where the population is less, not crowded. The demands for quiet cities in settlement areas that meet these standards increase the population rate, and for the overcoming of the various problems arising from the density of the population, the cooperation movement is forced. The research covers local stakeholders living within the limits of the Yalvaç district of Isparta. Research data have been revealed using quality methods to determine the contribution of the quiet urban movement to the development, which is the local development model. For this purpose, a semi-configured meeting with 15 participants residing in the Yalvaç district was conducted. Participants are determined by the purpose sample and consist of members of the private sector, the public sector and the civil society organization. The obtained data is used as an illustrative and content analysis. As a result of the study, the participants found that Yalvaç district's peaceful city activities had no effect on local development. The results of the research reveal the lack of knowledge of the local people about the quiet city, the need to be informed by local stakeholders to cooperate with other institutions and organizations. In addition, it has been revealed the results that all kinds of handwork, the cultural elements needed to be transferred from the past to the present, the promotion of the Silent City of Yalvaç and the elimination of the shortcomings in investments will have a positive impact on development. According to the findings of the study, it is believed that it will lead to other Pacific Cities, including the Silent City of Yalvaç, through the relevant stakeholders.
