The first Turkish cemetery officially built in Germany belongs to the Ambassador of the Ottoman Empire in Berlin (Prussian), Giritli Ali Aziz Efendi. Later on, the other embassy employees such as Muhammad Esat Efendi, Rahmi Efendi, Rasim Efendi and Aziz Ağa were also buried in this cemetery. This cemetery was built for the officers who died in Germany between 1798-1863. In 1863, Germany requested the transfer of this cemetery to another location. When the Ottoman State accepted this request, the cemetery was carried to its present location in 1866. In 1867 Sultan Abdülaziz built a monument in the new cemetery. The tombstone data of the embassy officers and a student who were buried in the previous cemetery were written on the five plaques in this monument. Some Turkish soldiers wounded in the World War I were sent to Berlin for treatment and some of them were martyred there. When the martyrs were buried here, the name of the cemetery was changed to a martyr. Talat Pasha, Bahattin Shakir Mr and Cemal Azmi Mr who were killed by Armenians were also buried here. The tombs of other non-Turkish Muslims, as well as the Turks who died in Berlin, are also here.
