Üniversiteler, bulundukları bölgenin sosyo-ekonomik gelişmesini sağlayan en önemli unsurlarından biridir. Üniversiteler farklı bölgelerden gelen bireyleri kendi bünyesinde buluşturup kültürel anlamda çeşitlilik sağlamaktadır. Ekonomik anlamda, üniversiteler kent ekonomisine yapmış oldukları harcamalar ile ön plana çıkmaktadır. Üniversiteler kalkınmanın önemli faktörlerinden olan beşeri sermayeyi üretmektedirler. Bu çalışma kapsamında Bitlis Eren Üniversitesi'nin bulunduğu bölgenin sosyo-ekonomik kalkınmadaki rolü saha çalışmasıyla incelenmiştir. Temsili olarak 400 öğrenciyle yapılan anket verilerinden elde edilen bilgilere göre Bitlis Eren Üniversitesi’nin bölgenin sosyo-ekonomik gelişimine pozitif katkı sağladığı tespit edilmiştir.
Universities are one of the most important elements of the socio-economic development of the region they are located in. Universities bring together individuals from different regions and provide cultural diversity. In economic terms, universities come to the fore with their expenditures on the city economy. Universities produce human capital, which is one of the important factors of development. Within the scope of this study, the role of the region where Bitlis Eren University is located in socio-economic development has been examined through fieldwork. According to the information obtained from the survey data conducted with 400 students on a representative basis, it was determined that Bitlis Eren University contributed positively to the socio-economic development of the region.
