Abstract:

Fairy tales, which are a part of oral and written tradition, are passed down from generation to generation and reach the present day. The fairy tales, which are a product of consciousness and protect all the secret of consciousness, are waiting to be analyzed in depth. The perspectives of different disciplines are needed in order to analyze the fairy tales that inevitably contain unconscious features because they are derived from consciousness. In this study called "Fairy Tale and Psychoanalysis", the psychoanalytic perspective applied to analyze the psychoanalytic elements contained in fairy tales is tried to be explained. This method, which enables us to realize what we are not aware of, is tried to be explained on the basis of the teachings of these two psychoanalysts, Freud and Jung, who made their name known. These theorists liken literary texts to dreams and underline that fairy tales contain many unconscious elements like dreams and that these should be analyzed just like dreams. From this point of view, in our study, we tried to give how fairy tales can be analyzed with Freudian and Jungian perspectives when it comes to examining fairy tales with psychoanalytic method. By discussing Freud's and Jung's dream studies in detail, we gave detailed information on how it can be applied to fairy tales in the same way, and we drew attention to the aspects where both theorists differ from each other.
