Bu çalışmanın amacı biyoloji ve coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının kelime ilişkilendirme testi ile temel ekolojik kavramlardan ‘ekosistem, komunite, populasyon ve habitat’ anahtar kavramlarına ilişkin bilişsel yapılarını belirlemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Türkiye’de bir devlet üniversitesinin eğitim fakültesinde Biyoloji ve Coğrafya Eğitimi Ana Bilim Dalı’nın 4. sınıfında öğrenim gören toplam 56 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada ‘kelime ilişkilendirme testi’ (KİT) veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Biyoloji ve coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının kelime ilişkilendirme testine verdikleri cevaplara göre hazırlanan frekans tablosuna göre anahtar kavramlarla ilgili biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının toplam 91; coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının ise toplam 95 kelime kullandığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının toplamda 182 kelime ile toplamda 165 kelime üreten coğrafya öğretmen adaylarından daha fazla kelime ürettikleri belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca anahtar kavramlar bazında bakıldığında ise yine ekosistem, komunite ve populasyon kavramlarıyla ilişkili üretilen kelime sayısının biyoloji öğretmen adayları lehine olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Bu bulgulara göre, biyoloji öğretmen adaylarının coğrafya öğretmen adaylarına göre anahtar kavramlara ilişkin bilişsel yapılarının daha gelişmiş olduğu sonucuna ulaşılabilir.
The aim of this study is to identify the cognitive structures of the candidates for biology and geography teachers from the word linking test to the key ecological concepts of the 'ecosystem, community, population and habitat'. The study group consists of a total of 56 teachers candidates who study in the 4th class of the Biology and Geography Education Main Science Department in a state university in Turkey. The research has been used as a data collection tool for the 'word linking test'. According to the frequency table prepared by the candidates for biology and geography teachers according to the word linking test, the conclusion was achieved that a total of 91 candidates for biology teachers related to key concepts and a total of 95 candidates for geography teachers used words. Biology teacher candidates have produced more words than geology teacher candidates producing a total of 165 words with a total of 182 words. In addition, when it comes to key concepts, it is clear that the number of words produced in relation to the concepts of the ecosystem, community and population is in favor of the candidates for biology teachers. According to these findings, it is possible to conclude that the candidates for biology teachers have more advanced cognitive structures related to key concepts than the candidates for geography teachers.
