Abstract:

In this study, the relationship between touristic destination risk perception, which expresses the risks perceived by people towards the destination, and self-efficacy, which expresses people's belief in their own skills and abilities, was examined. The population of the research consists of the citizens of the Republic of Turkey residing in Turkey. The province of Van was chosen as the research area because of the thought that Van province is an important tourism destination with natural and cultural attractions and that the risk perception towards Van may be high. In the study, data were collected by the questionnaire technique, which is one of the quantitative research methods. Data were collected from 2072 participants, paying attention to the homogeneity of the data obtained through online and face-to-face surveys. Within the scope of the research, the frequency and average calculations of the data collected from the participants were made and the differences between the variables were interpreted by analyzing the relationships and effects. As a result of the research, a negative significant relationship was determined between the touristic destination risk perception and self-efficacy belief. In addition, it was concluded that the factor of throwing into difficulties, which is a sub-dimension of the level of self-efficacy, is effective on the perception of destination risk. In line with the results obtained, suggestions for the interested parties were presented.
