Asthma is a chronic inflammatuar disease frequently encountered during childhood. Although in asthmatic individuals, the increased level of IgE, CRP and eosinophils levels is used in diagnosis the place of these parameters in diagnosis is not known very well. The aim of the study is to compare the levels of IgE and c reactive protein (CRP) and atopy, family atopy history, peripheral blood eosinophil counts and percent eosinophil counts in astimatic and healthy children in this study, serum samples were used from 53 children diagnosed with asthma aged from 3 -14 years and a control group consisting of 16 children at Erciyes University Pediatric Clinic. The levels of CRP and IgE, peripheral blood eosinophil counts and percent, age, height, weight, and family atopy history were recorded of patients and control groups in the study. It has been found that the relationship between asthma and IgE, atopy, family atopy history, peripheral blood eosinophil counts and percent is statistically significant. The relationship between asthma and age, weight, height was statistically insignificant. In conclusion it is shown that CRP level changes in the asthmatic children is not helpful in diagnosis. However, in the asthmatic children IgE, allergy, atopy, family atopy history, peripheral blood eosinophil counts and percent are the parameters that can help diagnosis
