Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the factors that may prevent mothers from breastfeeding and breastfeeding their babies in the first six months. Tool and Method: The work, designed in a cutting-edge type, was conducted between January-June 2019, with 108 participants with babies between 6 months and 2 years of age. The data was obtained by a survey form consisting of 3 sections and 24 questions. Babies who are only fed with breast milk and who do not receive extra food, water or other fluids except a drops of medicines, vitamins or minerals for the first 6 months are defined as only breast milk. In the continuous data obtained in the study, the t test (Student t test) was used in the evaluation of the two groups in independent groups. Categorical data are compared with ki-core test. The level of meaning is p <0. It was fifth. Results: Only breast milk and nutrition ratio was 33.3%. The mother’s level of education, age, working status, birth with Caesarine, receiving breastfeeding education, early breastfeeding and the use of breastfeeding are factors that affect the first 6 months of nurturing only with mother’s milk. The most common reason for mothers to start supplementary food before 6 months is the thought that mother’s milk is insufficient.
